EP 07 · My Lord, Holy
Nakalele Point, Maui — Where the Sea Shoots Skyward
A lava shelf, a restless sea, and a hole in the rock that turns every big wave into a fountain.

Nakalele Blowhole, Maui's North Shore
Past Kapalua, Maui's north shore turns wild — black lava, tide pools, and wind that never sits still. At Nakalele Point the ocean has carved a tube through the lava shelf, and every strong wave forces seawater up through a hole in the rock. When the tide and surf team up, the jet can climb a hundred feet. It is a place to watch from dry rock, at a distance — the waves here do not warn twice.

The day we filmed, the sea was gentler, and the eruptions came smaller — a white column rising out of the black rock, opening into mist, falling back, the shelf shining wet in the sun. We slowed the footage down so you can watch one whole breath of it: the swell gathering, the burst, the curtain of spray, the quiet after.
Standing above it, our hearts were full of gratitude. What a wonder this world is — landscapes like this are all a gift from God, and it is our Lord who lets us stand here and enjoy such spectacular scenery with our own eyes. We only had to be still, and watch.
