EP 02 · 100 Days of Morning Prayer
Day 2 — King Of Kings
The second morning: waves folding onto wet sand, catamarans at anchor, and Revelation 19:16.

Day 2's shore at dawn, a still from the morning's film.
Day 2 stays close to the water. The camera is low, near the sand, and the sea fills the frame — small waves rolling in one after another, breaking into a line of foam just before they reach the wet sand. The wet sand below mirrors the sky, which is still pastel: rose low over the horizon, pale blue above. At the left edge of the frame a catamaran sits at anchor, patient as a held breath. Twenty seconds of waves is the whole film. It is enough — the King of Kings is not in a hurry, and neither is the tide.
And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. — Revelation 19:16
If you go to watch a dawn like this one, the lesson of Day 2 is where to stand: low and close. The colours here are dawn colours, the twenty to thirty minutes before the sun itself appears — arrive early, stand where the wet sand mirrors the sky, and let the waves set the pace. The song under this morning is King Of Kings, the second song of the cycle, sung the way a congregation sings it. Tomorrow, Day 3, same time — 8:00 a.m. — the morning opens with Living Hope.
