Our Top 5 Cabo Views — Every One Filmed Where We Stood
Our personal ranking of the five Cabo views that stayed in our hearts — the lagoon pools from above, a sunrise over empty chairs, a pool sunset, granite rocks at golden hour, and one beach sunrise above them all. Every frame is ours.

Our number one — the sunrise we would go back for.
Los Cabos sits at the very tip of Mexico's Baja California peninsula, where desert hills run down to the sea. We spent a few days there with a camera and came home with hours of footage — and these five views are the ones that stayed in our hearts. This is our ranking and nobody else's: not the most famous spots, not a guidebook's list — just the five views we would go back for, counted down from five to one. The film of this countdown is on its way to our channel; the list lives here first.
#5 — The Lagoon Pools from Above

From a high floor, the whole place unrolls in one look: lagoon pools stepping down through the palms, gardens, the beach, and then the open Pacific. Nothing here moves fast, and that is exactly the point of it. As a viewing note, this one is a daylight view — around the middle of the day the light is at its clearest, the pool water turns its deepest turquoise, and you can read the entire layout at a glance before you ever go downstairs.
#4 — Sunrise over the Empty Chairs

The resort at first light: rows of loungers still empty, umbrellas not yet open, palms catching the gold, and the morning doing all the work. We love the contrast with the wild beach sunrise at number one — the same sun at the same hour, but here everything is orderly and waiting. In early November the sun rises at about 6:25 in the morning, local time, and this coast never changes its clocks, so that hour holds steady all season. Set one alarm; the chairs will still be empty when you get there.
#3 — Sunset over the Pool

At the end of the day the whole resort turns to face the water. The sun drops behind the headland, the sky goes copper and rose, and the infinity pool keeps the colour after the light itself has gone. It is also the easiest view on this list to repeat — no hike, no alarm clock — just be by the pool in the last half hour of the day. In late October the sun sets at about 5:45 in the evening; by early November it is closer to 5:40, and the colour builds for a good half hour before that.
#2 — The Granite Rocks at Golden Hour

This is Cabo's signature shoreline: big weathered granite boulders scattered along the waterline, worn smooth by the waves. Late in the day the whole shore changes colour — the rock turns copper, the sand glows, and the headland across the bay goes soft and pink. The gold is at its richest in the last forty minutes before sunset. Practical notes from standing there: pick a dry rock above the waterline, face the open ocean, and watch from the shore, not the surf — this is open Pacific, and its waves deserve respect.
We told this shore's full story in My Lord, Holy EP09, “Los Cabos — Golden Hour on the Rocky Shore.” It is hard to watch the day close like this, evening after evening over this shore, and not say thank you.
#1 — Sunrise on the Beach

Our number one is not really a place — it is a moment. Standing on the sand before the day began, watching the sun come up over the Pacific, a path of light running across the water all the way to our feet. We filmed the whole thing, over four minutes of it, because we could not bring ourselves to look away. Nothing had gone wrong yet that day, and nothing had gone right yet either; we did not earn that sunrise — we just received it, with sandy feet and a quiet heart. If you go: an east-facing beach is what you want, and the same early-November hour applies — be on the sand a little before 6:25.
The full story of this sunrise — and the film we made of it — lives in My Lord, Holy EP04, “Cabo San Lucas — New Every Morning.”
Just Missed the List
Hidden gem
The Serenity Pool — a quiet pool and an infinity edge above the ocean. It lost out to its own lagoon-pool neighbour at number five, not on beauty.
Hidden gem
The bougainvillea wall at dusk — a resort wall of magenta blossom in evening light. A detail, not a view; we still stop for it every time.
Hidden gem
The terrace above the rocks — palms, a red umbrella, and surf breaking on granite below. We only have seconds of it: too little to rank, too pretty to drop.

Our list, our mornings and evenings. When the film of this countdown is ready, it will live on this page too. And if you go to Cabo, stand in these five places yourself — your list will come out different from ours. That is exactly how it should be.
The stories behind these viewsMy Lord, Holy — the places that made me pray. Two views on this list have their full stories there: the beach sunrise (EP04) and the rocky shore at golden hour (EP09).Reader stories
