MSC Divina at Christmas: Miami → Ocean Cay → Roatán
In December 2022 we boarded MSC Divina in Miami for a Christmas week in the western Caribbean. This page is the trip as our camera saw it — boarding day, a full day on MSC's private island, one rainy port, and the days we never photographed.

Why this page exists
Most cruise pages are stitched together from brochures. This one is built only from photos we took ourselves, with the dates and GPS positions still in the files. Where the photos stop, the story stops — we'd rather show you a gap than fill it with stock copy.
The sailing, day by day
Day 1 · 2022-12-23
Miami — embarkation & sail-away
We boarded in the morning and sailed out of PortMiami in the late afternoon (17:14–17:24 in our photos). Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas was berthed alongside as we left the bay.
Day 2 · 2022-12-24
Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve — a full day
Christmas Eve on MSC's private island in the Bahamas. Divina stayed docked right beside the beach — in our photos the ship is the backdrop to the sand, palms and loungers all day.
Days 3–4 · 2022-12-25
No photos
Our camera roll is empty for Christmas Day and Boxing Day. We won't dress that up: this page documents only what we photographed. (A western Caribbean itinerary typically spends these days at sea or in port — check MSC's current itinerary for what the same route does today.)
Day 5 · 2022-12-27
Roatán, Honduras — the rainy call
A grey, rainy call. Our photos are of the port and the ships sharing it that day — Norwegian Breakaway and Royal Caribbean's Serenade of the Seas were both in port. We did not photograph a shore excursion, so this page doesn't describe one.
Days 6–7 · 2022-12-28
No photos
The same applies to the last two days before the return: no photographs, so nothing is described. The camera comes back for the arrival in Miami.
Day 8 · 2022-12-30
Miami — early return
Our last frame is PortMiami at 07:56 — the trip ends where it began.
The ports, as photographed
Miami — the departure port
PortMiami at golden hour on embarkation day and again at dawn on return. If you're sailing this route, the sail-away itself is an event: the bay, the skyline, and the other ships lined up along the channel.
Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve — the private island
The photos tell the day: white sand, palm shade, rows of loungers and umbrellas, and a 16-deck ship parked close enough to read her name from your beach chair. Everything in this section is visible in the gallery below — we describe nothing we didn't see.
Roatán — the rainy one
Not every port day is a postcard. Roatán gave us rain and a working port: cranes, wet decks, and two other ships for company. If your sailing calls here, pack the light rain jacket — December in the Bay Islands can be wet.

Questions, answered from the camera roll
When was this cruise?
Boarded Dec 23, 2022 in Miami; returned Dec 30, 2022 — a 7-night Christmas sailing. Dates come from the photos' own EXIF records.
Which ship?
MSC Divina — her name is readable in the Ocean Cay photos.
Which ports are actually shown?
Miami (departure and return), Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve (Dec 24), and Roatán, Honduras (Dec 27). Those are the stops our photos prove.
Why are some days missing?
We didn't take (or didn't keep) photos on Dec 25–26 and Dec 28–29. The page says so rather than inventing a shore day.
Is Ocean Cay a private island?
Yes — Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve is MSC Cruises' private island destination in the Bahamas, and on this sailing the ship docked directly alongside the beach.
Can I book this exact sailing?
It sailed in 2022, so no — but MSC runs similar western Caribbean routes from Miami. For current itineraries and prices, check MSC directly. (No booking links on this page.)
